hello! who am I and what do I do?
I am an intuitive artist. I rarely plan my paintings; instead, I let the water and pigments take me on a captivating journey of discovery. I am attracted to the vibrancy of liquid watercolour. I let the creative energy flow as I play with its intense pigments and shades that match my inner being—vibrant, with the capacity of gentler tones. The organic expression of blending and pigment separation create dynamic colour blends and textures. With a limited palette, I let the colours mix during the creation process. I gravitate to rich cobalt blue—my signature colour.
why do I do what I do?
Creating raises my vibration and grounds me in my authentic self. Painting calms me.
I paint my memories and the images I see in everyday life inspire me. Growing up in a small farming village two and half hours north of Edmonton, Alberta, we could see the aurora borealis dance across the skies on clear nights. Treasured memories.
It wasn’t until I was married that I was introduced to the mountains in all their glory. Auroras and mountains combined are a few of my favourite things.
how do I do what I do?
Watercolours allow me the freedom of pigment separation and organic colour blending. I add visual texture and build translucent layers slowly to create the finished painting.
Fun Fact: I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drawing from the Alberta College of Art and Design.
