Aurora Sky #4

This painting started off as a piece of white watercolour paper that I grabbed to show art walkers my techniques. There was no purpose other than to drop paint into water to show how I let the watercolour flow across the page. Over the course of the day, each demonstration added up to a multi-layers watercolour painting.

When I got home after the end of The Whyte Avenue Art Walk in 2019, I was pleasantly surprised to see such gorgeous texture from the pigments separating. The yellow is luminous. It’s not a colour that I normally use but it blended so beautifully with the cobalt blue.

This painting now lives on one of my bookcases in my living room until it finds its forever home.

Milky Way Mountains #1

Mountains hold a special place in my heart. Every time my family journeys to the mountains, I am struck with a sense of awe and wonder. I gaze up at their wondrous heights and am reminded of the infinite possibilities of our world and the universe.

This lovely piece is one of my favourites and currently hangs in my laundry room over the water cooler. Every time I get some water to drink, I look up and see this scene.

I was exploring purples one day and the idea of cloudy star filled mountain skies came to mind. Besides cobalt blue as being one of my favourite paint colours, permanent red has really surged to the top three colours. The vibrant shade pops out of the painting and I love this one.

It hangs in my bedroom until it finds it’s forever home. Every time I walk by, I am reminded of our potential and the infinite nature of our universe.
